Volunteer tutors
We are looking for volunteers to provide one-to-one tutoring to adults who want to improve their reading, writing, and math skills. We welcome volunteers with diverse backgrounds and experiences. No teaching experience is required.
Commitment:
1-2 hours per week or drop-in our classroom when you’re available and a minimum of one-year (if possible)
Qualifications:
• Fluent in English
• Good listening/speaking skills
• Dependable, patient, empathetic, compassionate
• Appreciation for lifelong learning
• Good sense of humour
• Possess a library card/familiarity with local library and other sources of information
• Good digital skills
Requirements:
Commit to a minimum of one-year, complete tutor training, provide 3 references, have good digital skills, and obtain a criminal record check and a vulnerable sector screening check. Fee is reimbursed for approved volunteers.
